StarredIn uses OpenAI's services for generating illustrations in your stories. It's important you understand how your data is handled:

  • StarredIn Access: StarredIn does not have access to OpenAI's logs or any data retained by OpenAI.
  • OpenAI Data Retention: OpenAI retains abuse monitoring logs for up to 30 days to enforce their usage policies and prevent harmful uses of AI.
  • No Training Use: OpenAI does not use data from our API requests (including your prompts and generated content) to train or improve their AI models.
  • Purpose Limitation: OpenAI's 30-day retention is solely for abuse monitoring and safety purposes, not for commercial use or model improvement.

This means that while your illustration generation requests are processed by OpenAI, they are not used to train AI systems and are only temporarily retained for safety monitoring purposes.

Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

Data Retention

  • Portrait Images: For new users, uploaded photos are used to create illustrated previews and stories, then deleted after use. Saved illustrated previews and stories remain available until you delete them or they are removed under our standard retention rules.
  • Stories and Content: Generated stories and other content will be retained according to our standard data retention practices and service terms.

This delete-after-use approach minimizes how long uploaded photos are retained while still allowing you to keep the illustrated previews and stories you choose to save.

Age Requirements

StarredIn is a platform designed for adults (18 years and older) to create stories for children. Due to requirements from our AI service providers, all users must be 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you are under 18, you may not use our services.

We verify the age of all users during registration as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe platform and complying with our AI providers' terms of service. Out of an abundance of caution, we have implemented these age requirements to ensure that StarredIn remains a trusted platform where parents and guardians can create wonderful, safe content for their children.

Content Moderation & Child Safety

StarredIn uses automated scanners and human review to block sexual content with minors, graphic violence, self-harm instructions, hate speech, and other material unsuitable for children.18 U.S.C. § 2258A reporting rules, and we immediately report any suspected child-sexual imagery to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
